Shalise Jones' Inspiration Behind ‘The Powder Room’ Collection.
Working on this collection was a pivotal moment for me. Through conversations with Kawaun about the direction and aesthetic I envisioned for our womenswear section, a clear creative vision began to take shape.
Designing The Powder Room brought me back to why I fell in love with this craft in the first place, the feeling it gives me, and what I enjoy most about it. There’s something irreplaceable about watching an idea travel from a sketch on paper to a physical piece you can hold. Designing clothes makes me feel whole. Putting an outfit together is one thing, but making one unlocks an entirely different level of confidence.
I immersed myself in films from the 90s through the early 2000s, and that world pulled me right back into a time when everything felt new and full of possibility. Those nostalgic feelings called forward certain colors, colors that reflect how I felt then, and how I feel now. I’ve always gravitated toward solid colors with intentional accents; details that are subtle but impossible to ignore. Quiet confidence that still commands a room.
The Powder Room is my personality distilled into a capsule, and made universal. Something for women that is comfortable, bold, and impossible to overlook.
